Another Centrix Innovation, the Disposable Benda® Brush Applicator

Sometimes complicated problems have a simple solution. In 1989, Dr. Dragan addressed a challenge he faced – how to accurately apply a variety of dental materials into hard-to-access application sites – with the invention of disposable bendable brushes. His colleagues laughed at the idea, but he didn’t let this slow him down on his pursuit of Making Dentistry Easier.

Centrix released Benda® Brush, the original bendable bristle brush applicator, 32 years ago and it is still widely used today. Applications of whitening and bonding agents, etchants, sealants, desensitizers, adhesives and resins all became more efficient, effective and sanitary. The molded head is able to bend to any angle, without the nuisance of bounce back, making previously challenging applications more accessible.

What could be mistaken for a simple design, is actually crafted from multiple components combined into one valuable tool. The brush is fitted with chemical-resistant, non-linting, non-absorbent fibers. These fibers are able to carry a greater capacity of the harshest dental materials while minimizing product loss to absorption. Pairing the ideal amount of material with the flexibility of choosing your brush angle allows for better material control and more successful applications.

Benda Brush also eliminates the need to worry about cross-contamination because our brush is disposable. The single-use brush allows for quick and easy clean up. (The days of scrubbing brushes got left behind in the 80’s.)

The perseverance and determination of Dr. Dragan and Centrix to solve problems for dental professionals has led to many industry changing inventions over the past 50 years. Benda Brush is just one of the numerous ways that Centrix has contributed to Making Dentistry Easier for everyone in the dental field.
