Register Now! A Must-Watch Webinar for Those Who Still ‘Watch-and-Wait’

After dental and hygiene school, many clinicians find themselves settling into a familiar routine, with the demands of daily practice and life leaving little time to stay on top of the latest advances. For years, the “watch-and-wait” approach to caries management was accepted as standard, but today, new tools and emerging science are rendering this mindset obsolete. Evidence-based interventions and minimally invasive strategies empower you to act early, prevent disease progression, and deliver better patient outcomes – shifting care to a more proactive prevention-centered approach.

Interested in learning more about this new prevention-first mindset? We got you! To make learning easy, we’ve partnered up with Dr. Joy Void-Holmes, RDH, BSDH, DHSc on a FREE CE webinar through Viva learning. Stop Watching and Start Preventing will be streamed live on Monday, September 22nd at 7 PM ET.

We are excited to collaborate with Dr. Joy as she is a highly respected key opinion leader in dental hygiene. With over 25 years of clinical experience, Dr. Joy holds both a Master of Health Science in Forensic Investigative Science and a Doctor of Health Science degree from Nova Southeastern University. Among her many accomplishments and credentials, Dr. Joy is a founder of Dr. Joy, RDH and creator of the Dental Hygiene Student Planner, serves on faculty at the American Denturist School, and has presented continuing education courses worldwide. In addition, she is a Consultant Examiner for the CDCA-WREB, a board member of the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners, and an editorial advisor for Inside Dental Hygiene. Dr. Joy is also an active member of the American Academy of Dental Hygiene and the Maryland Dental Action Coalition.

In her upcoming webinar, Dr. Joy will explore why the “watch-and-wait” approach to caries management is outdated and how modern, evidence-based prevention strategies can stop disease progression before it advances. She will discuss the role of silver diamine fluoride and other preventive technologies, highlight the importance of risk-based assessment, and share practical protocols for creating personalized, minimally invasive treatment plans that improve patient outcomes. Upon the completion of this prevention webinar, you will be able to:

  • Identify evidence-based alternatives to the “watch-and-wait” approach, including the mechanism and clinical efficacy of silver diamine fluoride
  • Explain the application and integration of emerging preventive technologies that enhance patient care standards
  • Apply strategies for risk assessment and personalized treatment planning using minimally invasive and non-restorative caries management protocols
  • Analyze individual patient risk profiles to determine optimal preventive interventions, moving beyond generic guidelines to advanced, patient-centered decision making
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of current prevention protocols and recommend improvements within daily practice based on recent scientific evidence

Dentistry is changing – you don’t want to be the last to learn about new advances. It’s an exciting time but you need to make sure you don’t get left behind your peers who’ve already said goodbye to the “watch-and-wait”. Ready to level up your approach to care? REGISTER NOW
